This incarnation of the 1999 WWSA DragonSlayers was sent to the 1999 National Capital Dragon Boat Race Festival in Ottawa. The team consists of members from both 1999 WWSA teams. Many of them consisted of returning paddlers from last year's team. Joining them were a new group of equally competitive paddlers. There were no broken paddles this year. They team returned home to Montreal with Gold medals and the Cup for the fastest time in the Professional Challenge for the 2nd year in a row. Saturday - 2 races Sat. best time: 2:37.89 - Ranked 10th / 130 teams GOLD Medal for Professional Services Challenge Cup Sunday - 4 races Sun. best time: 2:35.00 - Ranked 13th / 130 teams TECO World Championship 100m Sprint (Top 10 teams) Ranked 5th / 10 with time of 30.18 seconds. (Best was 25.91) There was one All-Mens team. Therefore, we were the 4th fastest Mix Team. (Note: 2 disqualified teams for false starting) 5th for Petite Final (Best 2:34.11 & Second 2:35.06) (There was a difference in previous race times of 1.81 seconds between us and 6 other teams going into the Final. The other team - Ville de Mtl. Rising Dragons was slower by 2.52 seconds. This was really anybody's race. All except the first and second placed teams slowed in their previous time.) The Team T-Shirt was also voted Best T-Shirt Design (Plaque) of all entered T-shirts [and our vote for all T-shirts around].
