Adults Only: Mundesley Holiday Camp
The old Mundesley holiday camp, well loved holiday destination for families in the 1960s, is no more – in more ways than one! Now owned by the Richardson Holiday Group, the camp still borders the beach of the 60s but is now a holiday “village” and what’s more, it’s no longer for all the family! Mundesley Holiday Village is now an adult-only holiday resort! So what’s the attraction of an adult only holiday?
-
As someone who has worked in education for years, one main attraction is obvious...if you haven’t got kids of your own, but your professional life means that you are surrounded by them, then you may not want to spend your holidays with them too, simple as that!
-
Ditto for if you do have children but they are being kindly whisked away to frolic with their grandparents, leaving you, the parents for some frisking and frolicking of your own! If it’s a break from your own children you’re after, then being trapped in a camp full of other people may well not be the break you were looking for!
-
Holiday parks and their amenities take on a very different persona when there are no kids around. For one thing, you aren’t surrounded by all of the merchandise and amusements that are there to trap parents into spending money via their children. Without such “attractions” the holiday parks have their own, much gentler persona, which largely fits in with an adult’s idea of a restful break.
-
Along with above, because adult only holidays offer themselves as a venue for rest and relaxation, they tend to be well located for sightseeing in the area or to find your own local entertainment. They do not feel obliged to offer everything on-site; a frequent demand when whole families are catered for, so again, the parks are quieter overall. Sites such as Mundesley holiday camp do offer entertainment, but this of a relevant adult theme, such as cabaret, meaning that you don’t have to endure a ‘birdie-song’ disco for clamouring toddlers at 7 every evening!
-
Facilities that are on-site become much more, how shall we say- refined, perhaps? Imagine a swimming pool where you can actually swim proper lengths without some small child suddenly appearing, spluttering and kicking beside you? Where lounging at poolside becomes just that? Where you can buy an ice cream and eat it all yourself?
-
Lastly, don’t be concerned that the ‘adult-only’ status makes these parks a haven for hen and stag groups, hell-bent on merging forces and causing noisy, alcohol-induced chaos for all residents! Mundsley holiday camp, like many others, has a strict “no single sex parties” booking rule, allowing their holidays to be a real haven for couples!
